Uttar Pradesh government today announced that it will be imposed a stricter lockdown in the state from tomorrow 10 pm to Monday 5 am. The 55-hour lockdown announcement comes in the backdrop of rising novel coronavirus cases in the state for a few weeks. UP govt to impose lockdown-like curbs to check coronavirus spread from 10 pm on Friday to 5 am on Monday, said Chief Secretary of state R K Tiwari. All government offices and markets to remain closed during this period, until further orders.
Trains will continue to operate, said the state government in a statement. Similarly, domestic and international flights will also remain operational during this period. Only essential services and hospitals will remain open in the state during the lockdown while people who are associated with these services such as healthcare, Corona Warriors and doorstep delivery people and others will be allowed to move during this period.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath Ji has directed to ramp up Covid testings to 40,000 per day. He laid stress on conducting 30,000 tests by RTPCR method while about 10000 by TruNAT and Rapid Antigen technique. Presiding over a high level Unlock review meeting here at Lok Bhawan on Thursday, he said that the alertness at all levels is prerequisite for prevention of Covid-19. One can be saved by taking precautions and remain alert, he pointed out.
The CM directed to send medical teams of expert doctors to Kanpur Nagar, Jhansi and Varanasi and said that the caution is required in view of the spread of infection in these districts. He also asked to increase number of beds in the Covid hospitals in the districts with more Corona spread.
He said that the wide publicity should be done to create awareness among the people about prevention from Corona. He said that the mass 2 awareness is a must about use of mask, observance of social distancing and avoidance of unnecessary movement from house. Apart from the print and electronic media, posters, banners and public address system may be used for publicity campaign. He said that the training programmes for the medical team engaged in Corona treatment should be continued actively while all steps to be ensured for preventing PAC and police personnel from Covid infection.
