World’s First Robotic Vacuum Cleaner with High Pressure Floor Mopping and Self-Cleaning Technology from Milagrow
- Launches 3 new Floor Robots with Independent Navigation Features
- The launch will be premiered during Amazon Prime Day on 6th and 7th of August
Milagrow, India’s No.1 service robots’ brand, has announced the launch of three new robots – Milagrow iMap Max, Milagrow iMap 10.0 and Milagrow Seagull. All of them use the proprietary Milagrow software ‘RT2R’ – Real time terrain recognition technology. They can be used for both commercial and domestic purposes. The robots have been launched after 3 years of research and development effort keeping in mind the space management patterns of the Indian conditions. The robots will be launched during Amazon Prime Day on 6-7th August.
Milagrow iMap Max – World’s 1st-floor wet mopping and vacuuming robot which can self-clean its mops with a pressure of 40N. This fully independent, self-cleaning robotic vacuum cleaner has a patented wet mopping mechanism which comes down and puts pressure of 10 N on the floor by two hydraulic shafts, based on an AI algorithm. This extra pressure on the floor cleans the most stubborn dirt and stains from the floor like those of coffee and sauce, etc.
After mopping a certain area, iMAP Max returns to base for self-cleaning. Before cleaning the fabric, the wash base sprinkles clean water on the dirty mop. Then the scraper, driven by a high-power motor, applies a pressure of 40 N on the dirty mop to scrape it clean before allowing it to go back again for vacuuming and wet mopping. The robot will go back and start cleaning from where it came back as the cleaning map is memorized. The settings on the app can be changed to enlarge or reduce the area before the robot goes back again for self-washing. iMAP Max also features a patented Snail Touch Side brush, which can clean the difficult spaces like corners. The robot has a reusable 1-litre dust bag and users can attach optional disposable bags.
Milagrow iMAP Max leverages the same AI technology which is used in unmanned vehicles. It uses a LIDAR sensor with Milagrow patented real-time terrain recognition technology for faster mapping and real-time path planning. With a 5200 mAh battery and a robust 2200 pa powerful suction to pick even small stones or beans, iMAP Max has been developed with extensive research of over three years. The robot is backed with a 2-year comprehensive warranty and a 5-year warranty on the Japanese suction motor.
The price of Milagrow iMAP Max including the water tank is Rs. 99,990/-
Milagrow iMap 10.0 – Fully Independent Self Navigating Robot with Electronic Water Tank and 3-hour battery life and most powerful suction of 2700 pa.
The highly specified iMap 10.0 comes with iMap LIDAR, which is highly specified and can form real-time maps by scanning up to 16m, 2160/second with an accuracy of up to 8mm. Featuring as many as 18 sensors, the robot can plan its path fast and display cleaned and left out areas in real-time on the user’s mobile screen. It has an octa-core CPU to facilitate faster response time.
iMap 10.0’s Electronic Water Tank has been modified to take Sodium Hypochlorite 1% solution to kill COVID-19 spores on floor, as recommended by ICMR. It also has a Super Silent Japanese Brushless Suction motor with 4 suction levels from 800 to 2700 pa and an antibacterial microfiber cloth.
Milagrow iMap 10.0 features a triple air filter system with HEPA12 and can remove 99.5% of PM up to 0.1 microns (COVID spores can be up to 0.16 microns) and 99.97% of PM up to 0.3 microns. Equipped with a 5200 mAh battery, the robot further comes with full self-diagnosis and troubleshooting display function as it works, in real-time. It comes with 5-year suction motor warranty and 2-year comprehensive warranty.
The price for iMap 10.0 is Rs. 89,990/-
Milagrow Seagull – The Gyro Mapping Floor Cleaning Robot with a height of just of 7.2 cm.
Milagrow Seagull uses the ‘Gyro Mapping’ technology to determine orientation. Milagrow Seagull will display the real time progress and map while cleaning on the user’s device. The robot plans the path in real time in each area to reduce the time taken.
With its anti-bacterial, anti-microbial and anti-viral (0.5 microns) properties, Milagrow Seagull helps minimize the spread of infections in hospitals and similar environments. These microfibers can attach themselves to even the smallest, most microscopic dirt particles – ones that normal cloth fibres crudely brush past. The robot can facilitate slight wet cleaning. It has a NIDEC Brushless motor, which has 1500 pa suction power, maximizing the cleaning power.
Seagull comes with a 5-year suction motor warranty and 2-year comprehensive warranty.
The price of Seagull is Rs. 20,000/-
Speaking on the launch, Mr. Rajeev Karwal, Founder Chairman of Milagrow Robots, said, “These 3 ‘White Robo-Knights’ are especially launched keeping in mind the emerging situation in homes, offices, hospitals, hotels etc due to the pandemic. The need of hygiene and disinfection is greater than ever before. The real time terrain recognition technology combined with pressure mopping of floor and then self-cleaning of mops is a world first and we are sure that the Indian market would benefit tremendously from the same. We are targeting sales of more than INR 10 million by premiering these robots during Amazon Prime Day on 6th and 7th of Aug.”

Harvard University Student-Run Harvard Student Agencies Collaborates With Learn With Leaders to Launch Exclusive Programs for Indian High-School Students
“We are so excited to partner with Learn with Leaders to bring our courses to India,” says Austin Kwoun, Managing Director of The Academies, the academic enrichment programs organized by HSA. “We’re proud to offer curricula that allow students to explore various pre-professional fields, and we hope that the students in attendance can leave the programs feeling enriched and invigorated about their professional futures.”
“This partnership will provide high school students in India an opportunity to learn from and get mentored by students at Harvard University. What is unique about these programs is that they are highly interactive and have small class size, which ensure students get individual attention. We started Learn with Leaders with the aim to help students gain international networks that get enabled through these unique programs. Many students in India may not get the opportunity to study abroad, and our vision is to bring them the best right here in the country,” says Gunjan Aggarwal, Co-founder, Learn with Leaders.
Shubham Gupta, Co-founder, Learn with Leaders shares, “I love working with students, and the HSA programs provide students a great learning experience. There was no one to guide me when I turned entrepreneur; so what drives me is that I can be helpful to students in high school. At Learn with Leaders, we focus on curating exclusive learning programs spanning diverse subject areas and skills that students need in order to succeed in a dynamic environment. By exposing students to different ideas in high school we hope to foster interest in multiple domains that could lead to more informed choices in future.”

Scanning electron microscopes are used in various fields, such as nanotechnology, metals, semiconductors, ceramics, medicine, and biology. In addition, SEM applications are expanding to include quality control as well as basic research. The demands are increasing for faster data acquisition of higher-quality SEM images and for easier confirmation of compositional information.
Based on our award-winning predecessor of “InTouchScope™” series SEMs, the JSM-IT700HR is equipped with our in-lens Schottky field emission electron gun (FEG). This new powerful SEM satisfies the needs for observation and analysis of further miniaturized materials in daily laboratory operation.
The JSM-IT700HR delivers a high resolution of 1 nm and a maximum probe current of 300 nA (15 times higher than previously), providing a wealth of observation and analysis information. A simple-to-operate user interface, the compact design accommodating a large specimen chamber, with a renewed anti-vibrational support for the main console achieve more comfortable observation and analysis than before.
For enhancing “Simple operation,” the JSM-IT700HR incorporates a new function, integrated into the SEM GUI, to display the characteristic X-ray generation depth. This supports prompt understanding of the analysis depth (reference) for the specimen, which is useful for elemental analysis.
2 configurations are available, 1) JSM-IT700HR/LV for high and low vacuum image observation, 2) JSM-IT700HR/LA with additional integrated JEOL EDS system.
- The in-lens Schottky field emission electron gun allows for high-definition image observation and high spatial-resolution analysis.
- The Zeromag function, which links Holder Graphics, CCD and SEM images, makes specimen navigation easier than ever.
- With our “Analytical series” (Live Analysis function), the embedded EDS system shows a real-time EDS spectrum during image observation for efficient elemental analysis.
- A new function to display the analysis depth (characteristic X-ray generation depth) supports fast elemental analysis.
- SMILE VIEW™ Lab, enabling integrated management of image and analysis data, facilitates report generation for all data from collected SEM images to elemental analysis results.
- “Specimen Exchange Navi” enables safe and simple specimen exchange.
- With the Auto Beam Alignment function, the electron optical conditions are always kept optimum.
- “Drawout exchange system” allows easy access to the large specimen chamber, which accommodates various sizes and types of specimens

Immervision Orders Investigation by Ad Hoc Research to Clearly See Smartphone Camera Performance from End Users Point of View
Immervision, the Montreal-based developer and licensor of patented, wide-angle optics and imaging technology, today announced its 2020 Smartphone Camera survey results in cooperation with Ad Hoc Research.
Amid confusing end-user comments on photos and videos and disagreement between phone makers on what has to be done, Immervision decided to investigate what end-user like or don’t like from their phone’s cameras. It revealed no smartphone brand, even the flagship brands, is performing well in consumers’ experience in taking photos.
The survey included 1,557 consumers located in California, China and South Korea who selected pictures they preferred amongst 10 images for each of the four scenes comprising city landscape and people. Photos were taken on settings from the same angle and under the same environmental conditions. Results were based on region, age, gender. Data was collected February 20 – March 5, 2020.
Ad Hoc Research said, “Our study showed that with current functionalities, none of the phones tested could adapt properly to all the scenes captured. Indeed, the user’s preference varies according to the type of scene and the content photographed (people vs. static objects). For users to be more satisfied with one phone, there should be a better adjustment of camera specifications based on the scene, since a certain field of view or a standardized line correction is not appropriate in all contexts.”
The smartphones getting the highest consumer praises were Sony Xperia 1, Google Pixel 4 XL and Vivo NEX 3 5G. No one phone performs well in all scenes.
“Adapting to the scene is paramount. End-users are clear; no smartphone performs well in photos in all contexts: poor face proportions, distorted buildings and statues are the norm,” said Alessandro Gasparini, Executive Vice President, Operations and Chief Commercial Officer of Immervision. “The winners vary depending on the scene, which demonstrates the need for adaptive solution and not one fit for all to perfect the field of view and deliver better distortion correction.”
- Scene content determined optimal field of view
- Preserving human face proportions is always more important than straight lines
- Consumers want more field of view when they feel they are missing something in the picture
- In building photography, straight lines are usually better than curves
- In some specific conditions, distortion on a landmark can be forgiving and score high
- Preferred distortion is dependent on the objects present and their location in a scene

LTTS has earlier collaborated with Microsoft to develop a smart campus in Israel for a leading technology company. The two companies have also partnered to leverage Azure IoT platform for Sustainability solutions and connect with Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Field Service to enable real-time optimization, improve ROI and employee productivity for Facility Management and Operations globally. Converge Biotech Announces the Launch of Vergiflu (Favipiravir 200 mg) in India to Treat Mild to Moderate Covid-19
Converge Biotech, a leading healthcare company based at Hyderabad, today announces the launch of generic Favipiravir tablet in India. It will be marketed under the brand name ‘VERGIFLU’ and is indicated for use in mild to moderate COVID-19 patients. Vergiflu is orally administered making it a convenient treatment option.
“We are delighted to announce the launch of Vergiflu for treatment of mild to moderate COVID-19 patients. At a time when cases are witnessing an alarming trend, our accelerated launch is aimed towards offering patients in India a much needed and timely therapy option. This strengthens our portfolio and keeps our commitment of bringing affordable therapy, accessible to patients,” said Managing Director of Converge Biotech Pvt Ltd, Arun Kumar Bijjala.
Favipiravir is an off patent; broad spectrum oral anti-viral drug backed by strong clinical evidence and has been shown to hasten clinical recovery in COVID -19 patients with mild to moderate symptoms. The drug is already approved for novel or re-emerging pandemic influenza virus infection in Japan since 2014, where high recovery rates have been reported with both 7 and 14 days of therapy in both mild and moderate patients. The drug has shorter viral clearance and faster recovery rate and is reported to have a wide therapeutic safety margin for COVID-19 dose.
The mechanism of action of Favipiravir is novel compared to existing influenza antivirals that primarily prevent entry and exit of the virus from cells. The drug has high affinity to RNA virus specific RNA polymerase and gets converted into an active phosphoribosylated form (favipiravir-RTP) in cells thereby inhibiting RNA polymerase activity.
The product is available from today in all major hospitals across the country. It will be sold only on prescription and the company will make sure that the drug is available to the patients.
Converge Biotech also has Prabinex HD (Injection vitamins c 1.5 g), Doxiverge (Inj Doxycycline 100 mg) and Oxihalt (Inj Glutathione 600mg) for hospitalised patients along with immunity boosters, Prabinex 500 mg (Tab Vitamin C 500mg) and Prabinex Z (Tab Vitamin C 500mg with Zinc 20mg); Divify (Vitamin D3 strips) and Tancyvit (Multivitamin).

“First Eagle traces its origin to Germany, and we are excited to reestablish our local presence there after an absence of more than 80 years,” said Mehdi Mahmud, President and Chief Executive Officer of First Eagle. “Arnhold and S. Bleichroeder, the predecessor firm to First Eagle, represented the amalgamation of two storied German banks: Berlin-based S. Bleichroeder, founded in 1803, and Dresden-based Gebr. Arnhold, founded in 1864. First Eagle’s European roots run deep, and the plan to open an office in continental Europe feels like something of a homecoming. Under the leadership of Matthieu, who has extensive experience working with international clients and building and managing multinational franchises, our Munich location will help us strengthen our partnership with Amundi Asset Management and enhance our client service outreach for non-US clients worldwide.”
Louanges and his team, located in Munich and New York, will be responsible for First Eagle’s international wholesale distribution business, which includes the firm’s distribution partnership with Amundi Asset Management. The European Union and the European continent will continue to be key elements of First Eagle’s international business, and the firm expects Asia and South America to be particularly important regions of business growth moving forward. Highlighting the firm’s commitment to its international business, Louanges will report to Mahmud and will join First Eagle’s Management Committee, marking the first time a Management Committee member has been based outside of the US.
French/German binational Louanges joins First Eagle after more than 20 years at PIMCO, where he was one of the most senior leaders in PIMCO’s EMEA franchise; as Managing Director, he most recently headed up the firm’s global relationship with Allianz. Earlier in his PIMCO tenure, Louanges launched the company’s EMEA insurance channel, which over time evolved into the broader financial institutions group, and he had broad oversight responsibility for PIMCO’s business in Switzerland and France as well as its EMEA client solutions team. Louanges joined PIMCO as a portfolio manager of mutual funds and institutional mandates in 2000 upon its acquisition by Allianz, where he had been playing a similar role.
“I am excited to join First Eagle Investment Management and become a member of its Management Committee,” said Louanges. “While First Eagle’s investment proposition already has a broad client base globally, given the increasingly uncertain economic and market environment, there remains a strong appetite for solutions that combine the potential for attractive returns with downside protection over full market cycles. I look forward to working closely with Mehdi and the rest of my new colleagues to make First Eagle’s time-tested, differentiated investments solutions accessible to international clients and to support our important partnership with Amundi Asset Management.”
Louanges succeeds Robert H. Hackney, Jr., a 25-year veteran of First Eagle. Hackney will remain with the firm, first to assist in the transition of his leadership of the international wholesale distribution business to Louanges and afterward as an advisor to Mahmud and the firm’s leadership team on strategic initiatives. “Robert’s leadership has been integral to the success of our partnership with Amundi Asset Management and our international wholesale business. We have benefited from his keen strategic perspective over the years, and I look forward to his ongoing counsel as we continue to evolve the firm,” said Mahmud.

Dr Abdul Rehman Vanoo, who is elected as the General Secretary of Dadasaheb Phalke Film Foundation, is a man of integrity, hard work and excellence. He is the General Secretary from 2018. He always had a vision to uplift and upgrade the technicians of the Hindi film industry and he has taken huge efforts in that direction. It is well known how the lockdown and the pandemic has proved to be very tough for the daily wage workers like Spot Boys, Lightmen, Art department staff and technicians in the film world. Dr Vanoo was responsible for sending daily essentials and money to the needy during this period even in the outskirts of Mumbai areas like Virar and Palghar. He said, “The industry is not filled with just actors, producers, writers and directors. While the spotlight is always on them in most award functions, we feel that the technicians including spot boys, cameramen and lakhs of people who work for their daily wages on the sets are also contributing to making a film and the final product. So, we made sure that they do not suffer during this period. We supplied daily essentials to them in various parts of Mumbai.”
Dr Vanoo has also helped the Mumbai Police and provided them with essentials during the lockdown. The Mumbai Police had set up a quarantine centre in Kalina, Santacruz East and Dr Vanoo helped in providing many services to them. Borivali, Dharavi and many other areas have been provided with daily essentials by Dr Vanoo’s organisation. He said, “Many people lost their jobs and we decided to give them work and food. And this was not only restricted to Mumbai. We provided these facilities and daily essentials to Delhi, Pune and many other cities in India. We also researched on how people deal with mental health during the lockdown. And in addition, we also continue to maintain healthcare facilities and provide jobs to daily wage workers. The government is also giving us good support.”
The daily wage workers of Dadasaheb Foundation were also badly affected. Dr Vanoo said, “We took a huge list of addresses of these workers and provided them with food, daily essentials, groceries and medical support to the entire staff. Nalasopara, Mira Road and many other areas, we transported daily essential services. Since we were working with Mumbai Police, we had a pass to travel to different areas and therefore, a big thanks to the Mumbai Police department, since we could use this pass in helping others.”
In addition, Dr Vanoo is also working towards uplifting and upgrading the skills of these technicians. He said, “Most of these workers have come to the city to earn their daily bread. They are not educated. So, we motivate them to study further and make them self-reliant. We also encourage them to learn special skills, which in turn would help them in the filmmaking process. I feel this is important for the people of our country and the film industry.”

The new AntChain Station offers users an easy-to-use integrated alternative, combining built-in software and a dedicated hardware accelerator that is expected to reduce deployment time by 90% and increase transaction speed by 30%.
On the same day, Ant Group also signed a strategic agreement with Dell, Hewlett-Packard and Lenovo to make IT leasing services more accessible for SMEs through the use of AntChain. Earlier in May, Ant Group formed a similar partnership with Intel.
AntChain is the largest productivity blockchain platform in China, with the ability to process and support one billion user accounts and one billion transactions every day.
Since 2015, Ant Group has been investing in the research and development of blockchain technology to build trust for industries undergoing a digital transformation. AntChain is used in more than 50 use cases typically involving multi-party collaboration, including IT leasing, global shipping, medical insurance claim processing, cross-border remittance, charitable donations, and more.
For the past three consecutive years, AntChain has topped the global ranking for blockchain patent applications, according to IPR Daily and patent database IncoPat. According to a report compiled by the China Patent Protection Association, Ant Group-operated Alipay holds the most blockchain patents worldwide with 212 patents as of May 14, 2020.

ExaGrid®, the leading provider of Tiered Backup Storage, today set the record straight around its offering that competes with Dell EMC Data Domain deduplication appliances. In a recent presentation to the reseller channel, Dell discussed the ExaGrid backup storage line product line, and some of the information presented was either outdated or inaccurate according to ExaGrid. While ExaGrid respects Dell’s professionalism and technical proficiency, some statements were not in line with what ExaGrid offers.
Here are 8 notable corrections:
– ExaGrid’s unique Adaptive Deduplication process provides deduplication in parallel with backups resulting in backups that are three times faster than other solutions, and is not post-process.
– An ExaGrid system can scale out to a 2PB full backup, with up to 32 appliances in a single system at 432TB/hour ingest rate.
– ExaGrid’s throughput is over 300TB/hr. at the same 1.5PB that a Dell DD9900 is rated for at 94/TB with DD Boost.
– With the latest copy of all backups stored in the unique ExaGrid disk-cache Landing Zone, VM boots and data restores are 20 times faster than other solutions.
– ExaGrid’s scale-out architecture adds compute with capacity in order to keep the backup window fixed length as data grows.
– ExaGrid scale-out technology incorporates automatic load balancing and global deduplication with a single UI for easy backup management.
– ExaGrid has automated job management with Veeam SOBR, Oracle RMAN Channels, Commvault Spill & Fill, among other features.
– ExaGrid also replicates data offsite, encrypts the data, and offers the same RPO at the DR site.
The Answer is Side-by-side Testing for Real-world Results:
ExaGrid encourages every reseller to have their customers test different backup solutions side-by-side. Many of ExaGrid’s newly acquired customers are replacing Dell EMC Data Domain appliances due to these test results. ExaGrid wins the majority of the time when a proof-of-concept (POC) is complete.
“We are replacing low-cost primary storage (from Dell, HPE and NTAP) as well as Dell Data Domain, HPE StoreOnce and Veritas appliances behind Veritas NetBackup, Commvault, Oracle RMAN, Veeam, and many other backup applications, as ExaGrid is far less expensive than low-cost disk for longer term retention and faster for backups and restores as well as lower cost than deduplication appliances,” said Bill Andrews, CEO at ExaGrid.
ExaGrid is different by providing tiered backup storage with a front-end disk-cache Landing Zone, the Performance Tier, which writes data directly to disk for the fastest backups and restores directly from disk for the fastest restores and VM boots. The long-term retention data is tiered to a deduplicated data repository, the Retention Tier, to reduce the amount of retention storage and resulting cost. This two-tiered approach provides the fastest backup and restore performance with lowest cost storage efficiency.
In addition, ExaGrid provides a scale-out architecture where appliances are simply added as data grows. Each appliance includes processor, memory and network ports, so as data grows, all resources required are available to maintain a fixed-length backup window. This scale-out storage approach eliminates expensive forklift upgrades and allows for mixing appliances of different sizes and models in the same scale-out system which eliminates product obsolescence while protecting IT investments up front and over time.
ExaGrid provides tiered backup storage with a unique disk-cache Landing Zone, long-term retention repository, and scale-out architecture. ExaGrid’s Landing Zone provides for the fastest backups, restores, and instant VM recoveries. The retention repository offers the lowest cost for long-term retention. ExaGrid’s scale-out architecture includes full appliances and ensures a fixed-length backup window as data grows, eliminating expensive forklift upgrades and product obsolescence. Mary Kay Inc. #Advocates for Women’s Empowerment, Safe and Dignified Work Environments at International #Women’s Forum – TIME’S UP UK Virtual Event
On May 21st, Mary Kay Inc., an advocate for global women’s empowerment and entrepreneurship, joined the International Women’s Forum (IWF) Virtual Conference, for a session titled “SAFE SETS: An online panel discussion with TIME’S UP UK.”
This press release features multimedia. View the full release here: https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20200722005187/en/
Carolyn Passey, General Manager, Mary Kay United Kingdom & Ireland (Photo: Mary Kay Inc.)
The live session tackled the ever-present issue for women across the globe: sexual harassment and abuse in the workplace. TIME’S UP UK stressed the critical importance of changing the culture to ensure a safe workplace free from harassment and referred to the work being done to define safety for women in film through intimacy guidelines.
The speakers with TIME’S UP UK included:
- Dame Heather Rabbatts, TIME’S UP UK Chair, Managing Director of Cove Pictures; Chair of Soho Theatre and non-executive board member for Arts Alliance.
- Ita O’Brien, the UK’s leading Intimacy Coordinator and founder of Intimacy on Set, her company through which she has been developing best practices regarding intimacy and nudity in film, television and theatre and through which she trains Intimacy Coordinators all over the world.
“TIME’S UP’s efforts will help bring about broader change for women in the workplace – worldwide and across industries,” said Carolyn Passey, General Manager of Mary Kay UK and Ireland. “As one of the world’s leading champions of women’s empowerment, Mary Kay is proud to support, through IWF, women leaders who are standing up to give fellow women a voice, help them embrace their identity and define their own boundaries.”
“What was increasingly apparent throughout the conversation was how #MeToo and TIME’S UP have had a huge and positive influence for changing the way productions work, how they are shifting to better practices in many new ways, and in particular with the new role of the Intimacy Coordinator,” said Dame Heather Rabbatts. “The conversation about safe sets is about how we make the culture shift, one industry after another, until we don’t need to have this conversation ever again.”
“‘Yes’, means yes, ‘no’ means no, and ‘maybe’ means no – we celebrate and embrace the ‘no’,” emphasized Ita O’Brien, when talking of the process during which actors get to voice their comfort level when shooting intimate scenes. The firm founded by O’Brien, Intimacy on Set, has put in place guidelines to provide clear lanes of communication and consent not only between actors, but also everyone else involved in shooting intimate and emotional scenes. “Clear boundaries actually create freedom and help understand what is right for you.”
“This line goes to the heart of the matter, and how we are all learning to express where our boundaries lie, and not being afraid to share them,” concluded Dame Heather Rabbatts. “Having in place some mechanisms to protect yourself is very important, so that we know we can exercise a ‘no’. This should empower us in all the sticky and difficult situations that happen in life, whether personal or professional.”
“It is invigorating to witness the influential work that female thought leaders and advocates have achieved over the past several years for the advancement of women’s safety and security in the workplace. These women, some of the most influential thought leaders in the United Kingdom, are on a mission to champion the next generation of women to become tomorrow’s leaders,” said Marty Wikstrom, Member of IWF U.K. and co-chair of the Cornerstone Conference. “IWF has been advancing women’s leadership and championing equality worldwide since 1974, and Mary Kay has been an advocate of women’s entrepreneurship and leadership since 1963. This session reflects a meeting of the minds, and we are proud to showcase this female-fueled partnership.”

About TIME’S UP UK
TIME’S UP is an organisation that insists on safe, fair and dignified work for women of all kinds. In response to the growing TIME’S UP movement in the US, a group of UK-based women: actors, producers, writers and others from the film, TV and theatre industries catalysed a sister initiative in the UK. For maximum impact it is set up under the TIME’S UP brand and aims to amplify and reinforce the message already promoted in the US.
The UK movement seeks to build on key elements of the solidarity letter released by TIME’S UP and the statement by the activists attending the Globes, which emphasised the need to highlight the connections between the harassment revelations in Hollywood and the wider, systematic nature of harassment and violence against women across all industries, contexts and countries with the recognition that this issue is universal. We seek strength in unity and maximum cooperation. The activist statement also flagged the ways in which the TIME’S UP initiative joins an ever-growing collective of organisations, movements and leaders working to end gender-based violence. The UK work stands absolutely in solidarity with existing movements: TIME’S UP UK is also now a recently formed charity, and as a charity we can only continue the work with support and donations. We all appreciate that we are experiencing unprecedented challenges but as TIME’S UP focusses on safety for all women in the workplace, which now includes the home, we hope you will be able to support us: www.timesupuk.org.

Media companies present an attractive target for criminals according to the report, which reveals a 63% year-over-year increase in attacks against the video media sector. The report also shows 630% and 208% year-over-year increases in attacks against broadcast TV and video sites, respectively. At the same time, attacks targeting video services are up 98%, while those against video platforms dropped by 5%.
The marked uptick in attacks aimed at broadcast TV and video sites appear to coincide with an explosion of on-demand media content in 2019. In addition, two major video services launched last year with heavy support from consumer promotions. These types of sites and services are well aligned to the observed goals of the criminals who target them.
Much of the value in media industry accounts lies in the potential access to both compromised assets, like premium content, along with personal data according to Steve Ragan, Akamai security researcher and author of the State of the Internet / Security report. “We’ve observed a trend in which criminals are combining credentials from a media account with access to stolen rewards points from local restaurants and marketing the nefarious offering as ‘date night’ packages,” Ragan explained in the report. “Once the criminals get a hold of the geographic location information in the compromised accounts, they can match them up to be sold as dinner and a movie.”
Video sites are not the sole focus of credential stuffing attacks within the media industry, however. The report notes a staggering 7,000% increase in attacks targeting published content. Newspapers, books and magazines sit squarely within the sights of cybercriminals, indicating that media of all types appear to be fair game when it comes to these types of attacks.
The United States was by far the top source of credential stuffing attacks against media companies with 1.1 billion in 2019, an increase of 162% over 2018. France and Russia were a distant second and third with 393 million and 243 million attacks, respectively.
India, was the most targeted country in 2019, enduring with 2.4 billion credential stuffing attacks. It was followed by the United States at 1.4 billion and the United Kingdom at 124 million.
“As long as we have usernames and passwords, we’re going to have criminals trying to compromise them and exploit valuable information,” Ragan explained. “Password sharing and recycling are easily the two largest contributing factors in credential stuffing attacks. While educating consumers on good credential hygiene is critical to combating these attacks, it’s up to businesses to deploy stronger authentication methods and identify the right mix of technology, policies and expertise that can help protect customers without adversely impacting the user experience.”
Q1 2020 Update
Publication of the Akamai 2020 State of the Internet / Credential Stuffing in the Media Industry report was delayed from April to July due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The extra time allowed Q1 2020 data to be added to the original report.
Most notably, there was a large spike in malicious login attempts against European video service providers and broadcasters during the first quarter of 2020. One attack in late March, after many isolation protocols had been instituted, directed nearly 350,000,000 attempts against a single service provider over a 24-hour period. Separately, one broadcaster well known across the region, was hit with a barrage of attacks over the course of the quarter with peaks that ranged in the billions.
Another noteworthy trend during the first quarter was the number of criminals sharing free access to newspaper accounts. Often offered as self-promotional vehicles, credential stuffing campaigns must still be initiated in order to steal the working username and password combinations that are given away.
Akamai researchers also observed a decline in the cost of stolen account credentials over the course of the quarter, which traded for approximately $1 to $5 at the start and $10 to $45 for package offers of multiple services. Those prices fell as new accounts and lists of recycled credentials populated the market.
The Akamai 2020 State of the Internet / Security Report is available here. For additional information, the security community can access, engage with, and learn from Akamai’s threat researchers and the insight that the Akamai Intelligent Edge Platform affords into the evolving threat landscape, visit Akamai’s Threat Research Hub.

Everbridge Adds New Countrywide Deals in The Middle East and in Africa. (Graphic: Business Wire)
More local, state, and national governments across the globe deploy the Everbridge Platform than any other solution, offering the ability to reach over 550 million people in more than 200 countries. Everbridge represents the first population alerting provider to support five European Union (EU) countries in conjunction with the EU mandate requiring member countries to have a population-wide alerting system in place by June 2022. With today’s news, Everbridge now supports population-wide alerting in 11 countries across Europe, Asia, Oceania, The Middle East, Africa, and South Americaincluding Australia, Greece, Iceland, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Peru, Singapore and Sweden. Everbridge’s population alerting capabilities also power some of the most populous states in North America including Florida, New York, and California, as well as over 3,700 municipalities, counties and cities within 49 of the 50 United States, within all of Canada’s provinces, and throughout Europe and Asia, including deployments within multiple populous states in India.
“Everbridge’s Public Warning solution enables government organizations and public safety agencies to immediately connect with every person in an affected area during a critical event regardless of nationality, residency or mobile handset type,” said Vernon Irvin, Chief Revenue Officer at Everbridge. “Given the impact to public safety and economies around the world from the ongoing threat of the COVID-19 pandemic, every national and state government can benefit from a modern and scalable platform to reach all citizens in times of crisis.”
As the most scalable platform in the industry, Everbridge provides the only public warning system combining cell-broadcast and address-, group-, and location-based, multi-channel technologies. The hybrid platform enables countries to protect against coronavirus; share updates on viral hotspots and pandemic best practices; coordinate first responders and healthcare resources; establish two-way communications with at-risk populations; and manage disruptions to transportation, education and other critical services. In addition, the platform also provides critical event management capabilities across a broad range of threats including natural disasters, terrorism, cyberattacks, and other security events.
The citizens of Norway, for example, received critical countrywide communications earlier this year during the onset of COVID-19. The Norwegian Directorate for Health sent a record 5.4 million messages to every mobile phone in Norway using Everbridge Public Warning. The Directorate for Health also sent a message to all non-Norwegian phones roaming inside the country in English, French, German, Spanish, Polish and Russian, providing critical instructions for foreign nationals.
“Everbridge provides the only hybrid public warning system that leverages the speed and network throughput of cell broadcast technology and the reach, population movement analytics, multi-language capability, and two-way communications of location-based SMS,” said Imad Mouline, Chief Technology Officer at Everbridge. “Governments require the best of both options – the capability to deliver a massive number of messages very quickly as well as the ability to target precisely who receives alerts. Everbridge represents the only population alerting provider that eliminates these tradeoffs and delivers optimized capabilities based on the needs of the use case in each country.”
Everbridge, Inc. (NASDAQ: EVBG) is a global software company that provides enterprise software applications that automate and accelerate organizations’ operational response to critical events in order to Keep People Safe and Businesses Running™. During public safety threats such as active shooter situations, terrorist attacks or severe weather conditions, as well as critical business events including IT outages, cyberattacks or other incidents such as product recalls or supply-chain interruptions, over 5,200 global customers rely on the company’s Critical Event Management Platform to quickly and reliably aggregate and assess threat data, locate people at risk and responders able to assist, automate the execution of pre-defined communications processes through the secure delivery to over 100 different communication devices, and track progress on executing response plans. The company’s platform sent over 3.5 billion messages in 2019 and offers the ability to reach over 550 million people in more than 200 countries and territories, including the entire mobile populations on a country-wide scale in Australia, Greece, Iceland, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Peru, Singapore, Sweden, and a number of the largest states in India. New Study Expands Evidence Demonstrating the Benefits of Critical Congenital #Heart Disease #(CCHD) Screening Using Masimo SET® Pulse# Oximetry
Masimo (NASDAQ: MASI) today announced the results of a prospective study published in the International Journal of Neonatal Screening in which researchers in Marrakesh, Morocco, conducted the first Moroccan study on critical congenital heart disease (CCHD) screening for newborns using Masimo SET® pulse oximetry.1 The authors concluded that “Our results encourage us to strengthen screening for CCHD by adding pulse oximetry to the routine newborn screening panel.”

Dr. Slitine and colleagues sought to improve early detection of CCHD in Morocco by studying the feasibility of implementing CCHD screening using pulse oximetry. From March 2019 to January 2020, 8,013 asymptomatic newborns at Mother and Child Hospital (part of the Mohammed VI University Hospital of Marrakesh), who were “normal” according to neonatal examination using the current standard, were screened for CCHD in accordance with American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) guidelines, including pre- and post-ductal oxygen saturation measurement, using Masimo Rad-97® and Radical-7® Pulse CO-Oximeters® with Masimo SET® pulse oximetry sensors.
The researchers found that, of the 8,013 infants screened, 7,998 newborns had a negative screen (99.82%) and 15 newborns were screen positive (0.18%). Of those 15, five were later diagnosed with CCHD and five with non-critical CHD; five were false positives (three of which had other underlying conditions). Of the 7,998 infants who passed, there was one false negative, an infant who was later diagnosed, at 2 months of age, with coarctation of the aorta.
The researchers noted that the screening test was “easy, simple, reliable, reproducible, acceptable, discriminating, well-accepted by parents and caregivers, and did not involve parental anxiety.” They also noted that “Pulse oximetry has a good specificity and sensitivity and thereby fulfills the criteria for screening. Additionally, most of the data in the literature suggest a favorable cost-effectiveness of this technique.”
The authors concluded, “Screening for CCHD is a reliable method for the early detection of critical congenital heart disease and even non-cardiac conditions. We think that it will have positive repercussions on infant mortality and morbidity in Morocco. It is an optimal test and it adapts perfectly to our context. We hope to implement it locally and nationally, as consistent with international best practice for newborn screening, to allow for timely detection of the infants born with CCHD in Morocco.”
Although the researchers at times use the term pulse oximetry generally, the specific pulse oximetry technology used in this study, as noted, was Masimo SET®. To date, six other large published CCHD screening studies,2-7 as well as additional, smaller studies,8-9 have used Masimo SET®. Cumulatively, the large studies represent 284,800 infants, which includes the largest CCHD study to date, of 122,738 newborns.2 All of these CCHD studies with Masimo SET® pulse oximetry showed improved screening sensitivity with the use of Masimo SET® alongside clinical assessment when compared to routine physical exam alone. With its ability to accurately measure through motion and low perfusion, alongside its performance in outcome studies, Masimo SET® stands out as the established choice of pulse oximetry technology for clinicians and policy makers hoping to implement CCHD screening processes.10

The Conference drew over 14,000 registrations representing 142 countries with high international participation from Singapore, India, Australia, Japan, US, the Philippines, Hong Kong, Canada and Malaysia.
“Despite the changing circumstances in the world around us, we remain committed to bringing the cybersecurity community together to exchange ideas and unique perspectives, because the only way our industry gets stronger is if we all learn from each other,” said Linda Gray Martin, Senior Director and General Manager, RSA Conference.
“The human element was truly evident over the last three days, and we are heartened by the positive responses and engagement we saw at this year’s virtual conference. With hybrid events likely to be the model going forward, we look forward to bringing RSA Conference back to Asia bigger and better in 2021,” continued Martin.
Experts at RSA Conference 2020 APJ weigh in on Navigating Cybersecurity in a Post COVID-19 world
Weaving in a recording of the powerful opening from the RSAC 2020 event in San Francisco, George Takei, Author, Performer and Activist, opened up the Conference with an uplifting monologue on The Human Element. “I ask you to think of your own human element – if we celebrate our differences, we can go where no one else has gone before. Embrace your similarities, celebrate your differences and revel in the possibility that everyone you meet is so different, yet so alike in possessing the elements that can change our world,” he exhorted.
In his opening keynote, Rohit Ghai, President of RSA, discussed the importance of the human element in building resilience across the regional and global cybersecurity sector. Recognizing the many changes in the last few months due to the pandemic, he shared, “The COVID-19 pandemic has changed everything in how we work, live and play. As we have all adapted to remote work, attackers have adapted too and we have seen a rise in fraud, phishing and ransomware related threats.”
Rohit shared that success in cybersecurity is not about the eradication of threats but ensuring that we bend the curve and ensure business resilience despite threats. “The story of 2020 may look like science fiction, but it is about our triumph in overcoming the storm together. We need to turn to each other for clarity and inspiration. This Conference was designed to help us achieve that, to foster connections that enable us to overcome challenges,” concluded Ghai.
On the second day of the Conference, Ann Johnson, Corporate Vice President Cybersecurity Solutions Group, Microsoft, expounded the importance of digital empathy and how the user needs to remain at the center of the fight for cybersecurity. “Digital empathy is so critical to how we move forward as an industry. Whether it is an organization or individual our ability to be empathetic helps us understand and adapt to the needs of others during any time of disruption,” explained Johnson.
“Security technology is fundamentally about improving productivity and collaboration for inclusive and secure user experiences. I do remain optimistic and positive that as we work to empower people through zero trust, greater diversity of data, cyber resilience, integrated security solution and digital empathy, all of this together will lead to greater, inclusive digital experiences for everyone.”
The Conference concluded with its annual highlight, The Hugh Thompson Show led by Dr Hugh Thompson, RSA Conference Program Committee Chair. This year, the focus was on celebrating the power in each individual to impact the world for good. He was joined by George Takei where they discussed Star Trek as a vehicle and metaphor of technology innovation, and how it embodied human relationships and ingenuity.
Dr. Thompson provided further insight into what this meant for today’s world, “The current crisis that we are in is pushing the boundaries of innovation in so many ways. Yet we are seeing interesting and even positive consequences of adapting – for example, so many more people have been a part of RSA Conference this year because it was virtual and they were a part of it from their homes and their living rooms.”
“Every catastrophe is for the human mind to do something with,” explained Takei. “Today we are living in a catastrophic time, but out of this will come a better society because we are problem solvers. Particularly under pressure like this, the creative mind, coupled with boldness and risk taking when people say it cannot be done, goes beyond that to make this possible.”
In addition to the keynotes, other Conference highlights included:
- 76 sessions with 99 speakers, 10 conference tracks and 24 Community Partners
- Interactive sessions including Ask the Expert and Capture the Flag sessions, as well as live speaker Q&A and a virtual networking lounge
- Industry-Relevant Conference tracks – Analytics, Intelligence & Response; Cloud, Mobile & IoT Security; DevOps Connect: DevSecOps; eFraud & Threats; Global Insights; Identity & Privacy; Risk Management & Governance; Software & Product Security; Strategy, Architecture & Operational Security and The Human Element.
Experts weigh in on the next wave of cybersecurity priorities and reflect on learnings at RSA Conference 2020 APJ
Over the three days of insightful presentations and sharing, experts and attendees alike agreed that conversations would continue beyond the Conference and be impactful in informing business decisions for the rest of the year.
“RSA Conference 2020 APJ once again delivered a great experience for attendees, and the Singapore Cybersecurity Consortium was thrilled to be a part of this virtual learning event. This year marks the second year of our partnership with RSA Conference in Asia Pacific and Japan, and we are heartened to see keen interest from the next generation of cybersecurity talents,” said Dr Vivy Suhendra, Executive Director, Singapore Cybersecurity Consortium.
“Cyber defense is a crucial component of national and international defense, especially in these challenging times, and it is a rapidly evolving domain that calls for continuous learning and innovation. RSA Conference plays an influential role in sharing intelligence and upskilling practitioners to respond to this challenge. We will continue making every effort, alongside partners like RSA Conference, to support talents and innovators in the sector as they work to establish a secure digital environment that we all rely on every day,” she continued.
Echoing these sentiments, John Lee, Managing Director, GRF Asia-Pacific shared, “It was great to be a part of RSAC 2020 APJ’s virtual learning experience and to see that interaction and engagement with the community did not stop despite us not meeting in-person. Rather, that it was amplified, with more being able to join us from around the world.”
On priorities for the new normal, Lee explained, “More than ever, we need to equip not only our front-line cyber professionals, but everyday end users because breaches can lead to damaging consequences. Intelligence sharing continues to be a priority for effective responses and greater cyber resilience. Moving forward, it is my hope that learnings from programs like RSAC are taken into organizations to create an environment of learning and sharing.”
RSA Conference 2021 Asia Pacific & Japan takes place July 27 to 29, 2021 in Singapore. Prior to that, and RSA Conference 2021 will take place on the week of May 17th, 2021 in San Francisco.

Metrica Partners Pte. Ltd. (“Metrica”) manages investment funds that are among the largest minority shareholders of NBI Industrial Finance Co. Ltd. (“NBI”, NSE: NBIFIN, Bloomberg: NBI IN).
NBI is a Shree Cement (“Shree”, NSE: SHREECEM, Bloomberg: SRCM IN) group company and shares its headquarters with Shree. According to Metrica’s research, almost 95% of NBI’s assets are represented by its holding in Shree and NBI has no debt.
NBI’s 2019 annual report outlines NBI’s commitment to “good corporate governance” and “transparency and efficiency”. And yet NBI’s share price has consistently traded at less than one-fifth of the value of its holdings in Shree and other investments, according to Metrica’s analysis.
Metrica seeks to clarify and confirm several aspects of NBI’s business which it believes may be responsible for the depressed valuation.
Metrica has therefore today sent a letter to the board of NBI with the following questions:
- Why does NBI justify its zero dividend payout via a need to “conserve resources”, given the extremely strong balance sheet and earnings?
- Given the abolition of Dividend Distribution Tax from this fiscal year, will the company commit to paying out all future dividends received from its investments, given that to do otherwise will incur unnecessary taxes?
- How does NBI propose to address the double-taxation of long-term capital gains which is inherent in its current structure?
- What measures does NBI propose to address the share price’s significant discount to the value of its assets?
- What is the purpose of maintaining the company’s listing on the public markets given that almost 95% of its assets are in Shree Cement shares, which almost every investor would be better off owning directly?
While Metrica is sensitive to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on Indian businesses and workers, Metrica believes that sound corporate governance is a critical requirement for companies to navigate the current crisis.
As such, Metrica is posing these questions in a constructive spirit and looks forward to engaging further with NBI to preserve and enhance value for all of NBI’s shareholders.

Velodyne Lidar, Inc. today announced a multi-year sales agreement with Blue City Technology, developer of a Smart City system for traffic monitoring. Blue City Technology, an Automated with Velodyne partner, uses Velodyne Ultra Puck sensors to collect reliable, detailed traffic data about road users, including vehicles, pedestrians and bicyclists, while preserving anonymity. Velodyne’s lidar sensors do not identify individuals’ facial characteristics, a growing concern for civic applications. Lidar has an advantage in privacy over camera-only systems because lidar does not record details like hair and skin color. It is becoming more apparent that adding lidar to traffic systems is adding the “smart” to city traffic and pedestrian infrastructure.
Lidar can scan a large crowd of pedestrians and detect general but critical information such as movement trajectory, whether a child or person has fallen or is acting out of the ordinary, all without disclosing individual features. The Blue City Technology solution monitors roadway intersections so traffic systems can prioritize safe crossing of pedestrians and cyclists and better manage overall vehicle flow. The 360-degree field of view of the Ultra Puck enables the Blue City Technology system to use just one sensor in most cases to cover an entire intersection.
The Blue City Technology solution is deployed in multiple countries, including for traffic monitoring in Montreal and by the city of Kelowna, B.C. as part of a 5G Smart City solution in partnership with Rogers Communications and University of British Columbia. The Kelowna initiative seeks to improve how people move in the downtown area, increasing pedestrian and cyclist safety.
“Velodyne’s lidar sensors are our preferred choice as they are helping us to deliver on our vision to improve the safety and efficiency in road networks,” said Asad Lesani, PhD, Co-founder and CEO, Blue City Technology. “The Velodyne lidar sensors collect traffic data in any weather and lighting conditions, no matter if it’s raining or snowing, or day or night. They allow our solution to help city governments to optimize commute times, and improve safety and planning.”
“Blue City Technology is emerging as a leader in the Intelligent Transportation Systems industry. Their innovative use of Velodyne’s lidar sensors to provide detailed information about traffic networks will enable a new era of smart infrastructure,” said Jon Barad, Vice President of Business Development, Velodyne Lidar. “By generating real-time and accurate detection of road users crossing an intersection and traffic congestion, we believe Blue City will improve peoples’ lives by making traffic systems more intelligent, efficient, safe and effective.”

Artis is an audio company, bringing listeners a range of products that deliver a sound experience that is worth falling in love with! That’s the space their brand campaign ‘Love Your Sound – Artis’ comes from. Artis launched this campaign, by converting their Instagram profile page into an Artis #ArtisSoundStation, where 7 tiles were transformed into the 7 notes of music. What better way to share their love than celebrating the very notes that give birth to sound? And it’s never been done before!
So, this is how the Artis #ArtisSoundStation works. Go to the Artis Instagram profile (@artis_india). One can find the notes marked from 1 to 7. Artis has used the ever-popular guitar and piano sounds for people to play. By long-pressing on the tiles, the tile expands, and the note plays. One can go from one tile to the other to play the different notes, long pressing each tile as you go along. It’s fun to play around with. People can also check out melodies created by 6 young musicians on the Artis Instagram profile (@artis_india).
“Within a week of launching the #ArtisSoundStation, the Artis Instagram profile (@artis_india) saw a 3X increase in the number of people visiting the profile and a 6X increase in weekly community growth. We were gaining around 130 followers every week, but with this activity, we have been gaining over 150 followers in a day! To date the activity has received 1.4 lakh video views and reached over 17 lakh unique profiles. These are encouraging numbers for us as a brand that has just started actively building its social media presence,” said Akshay Daryani, Department Head, E-Commerce, from Artis.
Rohil Paralkar, Servicing Head at Siriti, the creative agency partnering with Artis feels, “Our audience is young and digital. Converting an Instagram grid into a sound station is ideal as the voice of our brand and of our audience!”
Adwait Kulkarni, Creative Director at Siriti, shared, “Reimagining the way Instagram is looked at, with music served through the grid, fit perfectly for a brand whose claim is to reimagine sound. The originality and fun element drove the idea home.”
“The idea comes alive through design & sound and celebrates the brands promise of ‘Love Your Sound’ and it’s a first on social media, so we are glad that it’s getting good traction,” said Damini Kashelkar, Sr. Designer, Siriti.

“The Key Is to Study Smart,” Says #Priyanka Ratnu, #Topper – XII – #CBSE: Commerce Division at #Tagore #Public #School, #Jaipur
“Plans are of little importance, but planning is essential.” ― Winston Churchill. The whole buzz around this year’s board results is finally over after a season of nervousness and uncertainty. Amidst the pandemic, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) declared the CBSE on Monday.
With students securing top scores, a few hard working students have emerged as the toppers of 2020 in various categories. One such student is Priyanka Ratnu, a student at Tagore Public School, Vaishali Nagar, Jaipur, who scored 94.6% and bagged the first position in the XII Commerce division of her school.
The 18-year-old, who studied commerce, narrated her entire experience -from the start of her academic year to the results. On sharing her success mantra, she said, “Hard work and steadiness is the key to success. Students should be organized from day one of the board preparation.”
Below is a Q&A with Priyanka where she narrated her success story and her journey through conquering her board exams.
- Considering the ongoing situation, this year, the results have been in talks for a long time now. What were you feeling before your conclusion, and how did that change after you saw your score?
- Who would you call your most significant support throughout this journey?
- How would you narrate your experience regarding the support provided by your teachers and your school?
I still remember those days when I used to face a lot of difficulty in Accountancy and Economics, but my teachers were always there to solve my doubts and encourage me. They always believed in me.
- How many hours a day did you study? Did you follow any pattern, or was it instantaneous?
My study hours differed because of the tuition’s test series and routine schedules. But on average, I tried to manage 4-5 hours on all working days. I used to study more briefly and with full focus on weekends for straight 7-8 hours.
- What method did you follow for writing answers? How did you develop the concept of writing longer answers for more marks? Does it work?
- Do you believe NCERT books are sufficient for studying, or do you think other reference books are required?
- How did you manage your time and divide it for all the subjects?
- Any studying secret or your secret mantra you’d like to share?
Speaking at the occasion, Priyanka’s teacher, Mr. Virendra Kumar Gaur, also exclaimed his happiness. “CBSE results are out. It won’t be wrong if I say it is beyond the cheery results. On a personal level, my students have given more than satisfactory results. Priyanka Ratnu, class 12th, has bagged 1st position in the Commerce Division of school. Her work ethics and discipline have helped her to achieve this feat. I congratulate her on achieving this milestone and wish her all the best for future endeavours.”
Speaking on guiding students for their exams, he continues, “I have been into this profession for five years. After watching students from close quarters, I’ve understood the challenges students face with all the possible distractions present in their surroundings in this era of fast internet. I believe the traditional way of doing studies is still the best, and one should maintain a close amalgam between them.”
Priyanka has made her school proud. All in all, she got the right equilibrium at home and school; she is grateful to her parents for providing her the much-needed moral and emotional support and her teachers for extending a helping hand in academics.

As the country witnesses a surge in crime post lockdown, the incidence of sexual offence and rape continues to be the top-most concern for the safety of women and children. For the first time ever, prominent voices from across civil societies are demanding a step up in the use of DNA evidence in rape investigation. Marking the Day of International Criminal Justice, July 17th, also known as the International Justice Day, #DNAFightsRape carries the sentiment of people pledging to make India rape free! The initiative stands to be significant as it calls upon attention of our country leaders to set a target year to free the nation of the rape menace.
In a compelling video, writer, anchor & actor, Gitikka Ganju Dhar shares her message saying, “Hurrah to the Prime Minister’s vision of building a 5 trillion-dollar economy by 2024. Alongside, the Quality of Life Index for women in India, must also go up. We must set a target for ending the barbaric menace of rape by 2030 and transform India into a rape-free nation, बलात्कार मुक्त भारत. I believe this will happen if and when the number of convictions equal the number of rapes, and speedy and just convictions can only be achieved by using DNA as clinching evidence.”
The most conclusive evidence is the rapist’s DNA, but the awareness of DNA forensics is very low in India and its collection a massive problem. Because in India the woman who gets raped is shamed and considered dirty. She is asked to cleanse herself of the sin by her family. She is washed and her clothes are cleaned or burnt, leading to loss of crucial DNA evidence even before the case is reported. #DNAFightsRape reinforces the message, ‘Do Not Wash, Do Not Clean, SAVE THE EVIDENCE’. To get justice, we need DNA and for that we need to save bodily evidence in every sexual offence and rape investigation.
Dr Pinky Anand, Sr Advocate said, “The initiative #DNAFightsRape – Save the Evidence started two years ago and has since then come a long way and gained tremendous momentum. I am happy that I could play a role in this drive trying to create awareness amongst the populace, masses on the importance of DNA evidence, especially in cases of sexual assault and rape. Today, DNA profiling has become one of the most important evidence for detection of crimes like rape and murder, simplifying and easing not just the process of investigations, but often forming clinching evidence in cases where conviction would otherwise have been difficult. Many courts in India are now able to quickly deliver concrete and effective judgments in cases of sexual offences, especially rape because of the veracity and the absolute nature of DNA evidence.”
DNA remains the world’s best crime fighting technology as public figures and subject matter experts from legal, law enforcement, forensics, medical, and public policy fields validate the merit of scientific evidence over ocular evidence in court. The Nirbhaya case is a landmark case as it hugely qualifies the success of DNA evidence. It was effectively used to convict all accused in this case. The law was duly upheld, and justice delivered!
As a matter of fact, more and more courts today are relying on DNA evidence to convict the offender in cases of sexual offence and rape of minors. Law enforcement and medical forensic experts too are realising the need to step up protocols related to DNA collect & test in rape investigations.
“In the last six months, the judiciary has treated forensic DNA results as conclusive evidence. The process is today becoming successful only due to proper and timely collection of biological evidence by the police and medical examiners from the crime scene and the victim’s body following an incident. Over the last two years, owing to the increased awareness of the importance and the impact of DNA evidence, the testing of DNA in criminal incidents has doubled. We must take care of two things, preserve the evidence in a rape case and second, demand for DNA testing. And if we can do this, we will be able to make this city and this country, a safe place for our women and children,” Dr Anand added.
However, despite growth in the number of profiles being tested, the absolute volume remains low, especially in crimes against women and children. Rising crime, declining conviction rates, and an unprecedented backlog of cases in courts, clearly establishes huge unmet potential for DNA casework in India. Official statistics show a dramatic increase in the number of crimes against women, which have shot up from 24,923 in 2012 to 33,356 in 2018 – a jump of 34 per cent! As per NCRB data, one woman is raped every 15 minutes in India, whereas only one in four reported rape cases result in conviction.
Speaking from a global point of view, Tim Schellberg, Founder & President, Gordon Thomas Honeywell-GA noted, “I am proud to endorse the #DNAFightsRape on the International Justice Day. This campaign will bring much needed awareness of the power of DNA in delivering justice to rape survivors. This awareness will create the expectation in India that when a rape occurs, DNA will be collected and tested quickly. In the United States and many other countries who were early to mainstream DNA forensics, rape survivors and their families have a general understanding of DNA evidence and they know its value to a criminal investigation. As a result, the culture in these countries is not to clean or wash evidence and pursue medical examination at the earliest. India too would see greater utilization of DNA in sexual assaults if people here made it a top priority. This would not only bring sexual offenders to justice but also act as a strong deterrent to the act of rape”.
Stating the sense of urgency and call to action, Arneeta Vasudeva, Senior Vice President Ogilvy adds, “Rape is a malice that has permeated into this nation’s fabric and is spreading at an alarming rate. With only 1 in 4 rape cases leading to conviction, the future looks grim unless we do something about it. So let’s all on this Day of International Criminal Justice take a pledge to do our part in making India a rape-free country, and a safer community for our women and children.”
To join the movement, use #DNAFightsRape #WherestheDNA and post a picture along with a message to spread the word, MAKE INDIA RAPE FREE!

Arthur D. Little Publishes Fourth Edition of Its Future of Mobility Study in Collaboration with UITP
Global management consultancy Arthur D. Little today released the fourth edition of its Future of Mobility study in collaboration with UITP, the International Association of Public Transport. This new special edition, “The Future of Mobility Post-COVID – Turning the crisis into an opportunity to accelerate towards more sustainable, resilient and human-centric urban mobility systems,” explores mobility systems in a post-COVID-19 world.
This press release features multimedia. View the full release here: https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20200717005109/en/
The study, which involved engagement with over 70 executives from more than 30 organizations worldwide, aims to shed light on the impact COVID-19 will have on mobility patterns in the medium- to long term. It also provides strategic responses to enable mobility policy makers and solutions providers to leverage the disruption caused by the crisis, and make step changes in the post-COVID-19 world.
“Changing the basic paradigm of mobility systems is hugely challenging, and up to now, most cities and countries have struggled to make the fundamental changes needed to move towards sustainable, resilient and human-centric urban mobility systems,” said François-Joseph Van Audenhove,Partner at Arthur D. Little and Head of the Future of Mobility Lab. “Despite, or even because of, the economic stress that we will see over the coming years, now could be the time for stakeholders to act together to make it happen.”
The report provides a summary of more than 100 actions that transport authorities and mobility solutions providers are taking, or planning to take, in response to the crisis. It also identifies six “game changers” that are critical for mobility-system players to make the most of what is a unique window of opportunity to move forward and accelerate change.
